Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has invited online applications for admission to Class VI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for the academic session 2027-28 through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test 2027. The last date for online registration has been extended up to 07 August 2026. The selection test will be conducted on 28 November 2026 from 11:30 AM to 01:30 PM. At present, 665 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are functional, and a maximum of 80 students may be admitted to Class VI in each Vidyalaya, subject to availability of suitable candidates and accommodation.

Important Information

  • The last date for submission of the Class VI JNVST 2027 online application has been extended to 07 August 2026.
  • Applications are completely free of cost.
  • A candidate can apply only once for the Class VI JNV Selection Test.
  • The candidate must be a bona fide resident of the district for which admission is sought.
  • The candidate must be studying in Class V during the complete academic session 2026-27 in a Government, Government-aided or recognized school.
  • A student studying in a neighbouring district may apply for the JNV of the district of residence only when the school is located within a maximum radial distance of 10 kilometres from the residence, subject to NVS verification.
  • Candidates who passed Class V before the 2026-27 session or repeated Class V are not eligible.
  • The candidate must have studied and passed Classes III, IV and V after completing a full academic session in each class.
  • The prescribed date-of-birth range applies to every category without exception.
  • At present, 665 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are functional in 27 States and 8 Union Territories.
  • A maximum of 80 students may be admitted to Class VI in each JNV.
  • The maximum indicative total is up to 53,200 seats, but this is not a guaranteed fixed seat count.
  • NVS may reduce the intake of a JNV to 40 seats or withhold admission where adequate accommodation is unavailable.
  • At least 75 percent of seats in a district are filled by candidates selected from rural areas.
  • Rural quota candidates must have completed full academic sessions in Classes III, IV and V in schools located in rural areas.
  • A candidate studying even for one day in an urban-area school during Classes III, IV or V will be treated as an urban candidate.
  • OBC reservation is available only to candidates included in the Central OBC List and possessing a valid certificate.
  • The selected examination language cannot be changed after the permitted correction process.
  • The correction window will allow changes only in selected fields such as Gender, Area, Category, Disability and Medium of Examination.
  • Photograph, candidate signature, parent signature and Aadhaar details or a valid residence certificate should be kept ready in the prescribed format.
  • Basic details such as State, District, Block, Aadhaar Number, APAAR ID and PEN Number may be required during registration.
  • Selected candidates must produce original proof of residence, birth certificate, study certificate and applicable category or disability certificates.
  • Provisional selection does not create an automatic right to admission until all documents and eligibility conditions are verified.
  • Admission is granted only in the JNV connected to the eligible district; requests for transfer to another JNV will not be accepted.
  • The result is expected by the end of March 2027.
  • The complete admission process for the 2027-28 session is scheduled to close by 31 August 2027.
