Normalization in Bihar STET 2026
BSEB will use a Normalization process where the Computer Based Test is conducted in multiple shifts. Qualification will be determined on the basis of the applicable Normalized Score, not merely the raw score.
Important Normalization Rule: Even though there is no negative marking for a wrong answer, normalization can increase or decrease the effective score depending on shift difficulty. Candidates must therefore meet the prescribed qualifying percentage after application of the normalization method.

Bihar STET Educational Qualification 2026
Paper I – Secondary Level
For the general Paper I subjects, candidates must possess the prescribed Bachelor’s degree in the concerned / mapped subject together with the required teacher-training qualification. The notification provides multiple accepted routes, including the applicable minimum-percentage requirements and NCTE-recognised B.Ed. / integrated teacher-education qualifications.
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree with the prescribed marks and B.Ed. / equivalent teacher-training qualification.
- Applicable 5% relaxation in minimum educational marks is available to SC / ST / BC / EBC / PwD candidates as prescribed.
- Subject selection must match the candidate’s academic / graduation subject combination according to notification rules.
- Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts and Dance have separate subject-specific qualification requirements.
Special School Teacher – Paper I
For Special School Teacher eligibility, the notification prescribes Graduation with the required marks along with an RCI-recognised Special Education qualification and applicable valid registration / CRR requirements. Candidates possessing a general B.Ed. with the specified Special Education certificate / diploma may also be eligible subject to the Rehabilitation Council of India conditions given in the notice.
Paper II – Higher Secondary Level
Paper II candidates must possess the prescribed Post-Graduation qualification in the relevant / mapped subject with the required teacher-training qualification, subject to the subject-specific rules in the notification.
- Relevant Post-Graduation degree with the prescribed marks and B.Ed. / equivalent NCTE-recognised qualification.
- Commerce, Computer Science, Agriculture and Music have separate eligibility provisions.
- For Computer Science, the notification provides multiple recognised Computer Science / IT qualification routes; B.Ed. is not compulsory in the cases specifically exempted by the notification.
- All degrees / teacher-training qualifications must be from recognised institutions as prescribed.
